Struggle Stands for....

It is interesting that the story is not Santiago's struggle against awing nature but human beings' natural place in the world. It is worthwhile to discuss the structure of this book where one side to kill must be faced with the other side to be killed because it is the most primitive relation between living things. To be honest, our daily life sometimes gets stuck in a rut, so that we seldom encounter such a struggle as an isolating fight on the sea. However most of us have the desire for struggle, defeat and death. I think these trials can cause us to revive our instinct by confronting unexpected adversities. Therefore, people may be proud of struggle, defeat and death.
