I Am Back Here Now

Improving my English skill can be attributed to a process of output, for example making presentations, writing essays and blogging, which is so essential that I'd like to bear it in my mind all the time.

Though I am introverted  to the degree of being reluctant to talk about myself, actually I want to make myself understood more deeply. In short, I just want to express all stuff about me, while I am afraid of it. Maybe, I fear being rejected or underestimated because I've been  haunted by negative aspects of my character...    Sorry, I come not to grasp what  I wanna communicate by this article.

Fortunately, there are a lot of nice people I can respect, so the existence can make me alive everyday.
I know what I said is too emotional to arrange, but it's how I've felt.
I appreciate with all my heart my peers and teachers motivating me to become more confident, to go forward and to do what you want.

I'm sleepy now, so I will be willing to reflect useful tips for being a active scholar later.
Thank you and good night!

Dear ZOTERO..

At first, I wasn't able to understand for what ZOTERO is and how to deal with it, but I felt like making good use of it in the end. Now that I don't know if my several citations are correct or not, the function deserves to work immediately. Nevertheless, I want to go on citing evidences on my own to maintain my academic skills learned in the ARW class.

Pushing up Priority!!

Frankly speaking, I have trouble in keeping up with homework about the essay. However, there is little time to stop to think, so I have to manage my time by limiting the time to do tasks. If so, I could spend more time sleeping. To me, it's a vital matter, and also, it's better for me to use efficiently my priceless time as a college student, that is, I guess that "Time is money."
Now, I want to know your present priority in writing the essay.

Struggle Stands for....

It is interesting that the story is not Santiago's struggle against awing nature but human beings' natural place in the world. It is worthwhile to discuss the structure of this book where one side to kill must be faced with the other side to be killed because it is the most primitive relation between living things. To be honest, our daily life sometimes gets stuck in a rut, so that we seldom encounter such a struggle as an isolating fight on the sea. However most of us have the desire for struggle, defeat and death. I think these trials can cause us to revive our instinct by confronting unexpected adversities. Therefore, people may be proud of struggle, defeat and death.

Bias behind all the Books

In the last class, there ware three points to focus on. These are called 3Bs: Background, Biography and Bias. Concentrating on each theme, I was able to find new phases of  OMS like a prism. Especially, bias attracts me most. Whether it is positive or negative, it could influence the content. For example, because Hemingway (Santiago) thought of the black people as a strong species and might have respected them, he used the word, "nigger" in the book. It's interesting.
Concerning backgrounds, it is set in the middle of the Cold War,so the world were faced with the danger of breaking out war. Boosting economy happened, but actually people are always threatened by the fear. Now that we couldn't feel the same as my own experience, we have to search authors and history for such information.

I'd like to be a more fluent blogger!

Stoicism is what?

Stoicism is one of the greatest virtues, for persistence is considered as a  strength of  will.  Exactly, I agree with the idea. However, the author, Ernest Hemingway, seems not to be a respectful person. His      character must be disagreeable in contrary with his sensible text. A man of stubborn is usually misunderstood, however gentle he/she is. Maybe so was Hemingway.
As for the content of OMS, WHEN and WHERE is interesting for me that  I want to know about Cuba, which hadn't adopted the communism yet. Because such pre-reading information will give us more profound comprehension, we need to make time to research before reading, as is always required in ELA.

CWT stands for Clear What to Take advantage of!

When I took CWT(Course Wide Test) on Friday, as I had expected, it was hard for me to decide a kind of fallacy used in an example. In most cases, I had no idea about which answer to choose. if I had thought the questions logically, I wondered I could have chosen the right answer. For example, concerning "law school students" assumption, it seems to me that it suggested that we observe what it is as you look. Frankly speaking with finding assumption, we should somehow divide our thought into one and objective. Therefore, it can give us to self-evolved opportunities. As the assumption, inspecting essay or something for fallacy is also practice to improve the skill of criticize.

In today's ARW class, our discussion group focused on "Red herring" and "Bandwagon". the first one made me most confusing, for its example was not logical in the least and it didn't seem that the first sentence had anything to do with the second. However, if so, "Red herring" is similar to "Not-sequitur", which includes a strange connection between premise and conclusion.
So,it is not until we asked Dan what it is that we were able to comprehend the fallacy. In using the way, it is essential to distract one's attention from an issue!

"Bandwagon" makes bad use of the number of followers. At first glance, things that many people support can be viewed as better things, but is it true? Such a flow of thinking is like an illusion, because there is no reference to the content of ideas. That's why being the majority is not enough solid to justify any thesis.

Fall Down into Fallacy

Fallacy is a kind of syllogism. It often confuses readers, for this way of talking can lead them to misunderstand cause and effect, whether it is done by accident or on purpose. Analyzing the form of fallacies, you should each highlight the same meaning words. Then, you can find its structure. Begging the question helps you develop rationally a theory, because you have to challenge your own topic sentence by questions in order to do self-evaluation. For example, why it is important and why they are prohibited from do so. Don't forget to requiring reasons from a writer's standpoint as well as from a reader's.

Check out Criteria!

These words: accurate, representative, relative and sufficient are criteria for slecting proper evidences. First time I learned them by Johnny Tanaka's academic essay, they were not able to make sense to me enough. Nevertheless, on watching the video, I grasped how to pick out the best sources among enormous information. First, accuracy is attributed to firsthand account. For instance, there being too much summary and paraphrase, it is not reliable enough to refer to. Second, representation makes much of  a context. We should comprehend the stipulated meaning in a certain context. Third, relative
depends on the background of narrating. In respect of fairness, politicians'claims are usually biased owing to personal reasons. Also, in terms of  time and space, we can't apply common knowledge in wartime to that these days. But, the third point is the most difficult for me to analyze sources. Finally, sufficiency is judged from the number of those who have the same opinion. The number of supporters                  can strengthen unique conceptions, in other words, the more followers an idea attract, the more persuasive one becomes. That's my summary of  the video about the norm to choose proofs. It is the very first process of writing academic essay, so I guess well begun is half done.

Achive a Role of Reviewer

To improve our practical skills that are not only English but also any skill we try to acquire recently, we should have good peers. It seems to me that peers are referred to as relatively objective viewpoints of questioning what is taken for granted. Whether they are assistants or skeptics, they should feel like supporting a writer. So, we needn't be upset by our member's comment. All in all, one of the most important points is to be specific. In commenting the other essays, I will attempt to point out a particular part of them, and make constructive comments.

Dealing with Drafting

I watching the video, it occurred to me that many drafts about my topic play a crucial role in constructing ideas. To me, drafting can be compared to putting a flash on top of another like a layer of  your thought. It is beneficial for writers to refer to their own drafts written by then, because reflection is of use to keep their essay coherent. So, I'd like to seek to apply the way of writing to my essay. If I take pains to making drafts, I will be able to write an elaborate essay including enough evidence and argumentation.

Gratitude for Grammarly

In the class, I checked a stream 3 student's answer to CWT at random. The score I gave may be referred to later. Therefore, it seemed to me that it was a responsible task.
At first, I was confused with why it is tough to read his/her paragraphs. I considered possible reasons for it. To illustrate, it is because of lack of transitions(weak connection of sentences), an improper use of tense and wrong spellings. Making us look into an answer sheet and reflect on ourselves simultaneously, this exercise can bring about opportunities to do self-evaluate.

Scanning my blog by Grammarly, I marveled at a bunch of elaborated inspections: articles, strange collocations, commas and so on. It is kind enough to point out my mistakes which I could be aware of if I didn't use it. In a sense, Grammerly is another teacher of mine.
So, I'd like to take advantage of it to steadily enhance my writing skills. Furthermore, I want to pay attention to plagiarism. If it is against my will, rude writings approximate to plagiarism will not be admitted.

My Ideas & Tips for Explaining It

In the last ARW class, I grasped the importance of what evidences you base on and how you arrange them. For instance, in a paragraph, first evidence you show shouldn't be anecdotal but objective. Of course, personal experiences are referred to as strong evidences on a paper,so we have to care about an effective flow of writing.

Speaking of the video, it is comprehensive enough to avail myself of some practical technique.
I want to bear in mind the words,"Prewriting strategies can be used at any point of the writing process." Don't hesitate to spend much more time preparing for a paper. All we have to remember is brainstorming is the best method to find a main stream of thought. Repeating the process many times, I can get accustomed to it! I guess slow and steady wins the race.

My topic is concerned with gender problems.
Do you know about Rainbow Action? It is an organization founded in Hong Kong on Human Right Day 15  years ago. Its purpose is to fight for human rights for sexual minorities in a non-violent way. Further information: http://rainbowactionhk.org/
Moreover, I am going to focus on how it has been used in Israel. Let me explain its blessings and curses on my thesis,

Let's Say Together "We Are All Monkeys"

This video seems to amuse me at first glance, but when I take account of what it really means behind the scene, it gives an essence to me.
To begin with, as Rab said, Dani Alves, who is a football player thrown a banana, exhibited the better method to fight against racism without violence. I'm convinced his polite reaction should be respected by others and spread. Actually, the action has become a sequence of movement.
This is the most important point, isn't it?
People all over the world should tackle such a complex problem together. The more people take a positive action, the stronger their voices get.
For the reason, this video is of great use in terms of a declaration of intention.

My Bucket List & class review

I've known the movie,"the Bucket List" , which was mainly performed by Jack NicholsonMorgan Freeman. The title in Japanese means "the Way of Finding the Best Life" in English. I was greatly touched by the movie, because it reminded me of enjoying my own life as much as possible!

The List:

  • I bungee from a height of more than 100 meters with my friends, for I love to feel gravity at right angles and to stand on a high place. I'm ready to jump, but it seems that there are few people who are in bungee. So, it is the most difficult to decide with whom I'm going to bungee.
  • I take care of a dog and a horse on a hill where my log house is constructed. I also spend a lot of time on reading and watching films. The reason is that it is comfortable to live with reliable members, even if they are not human beings. Anyway, I dreamed of such picture so far.
  • To be honest, first of all, I hope to express my deep appreciation to my family and friends before kicking a bucket. I say to them, "Thank you very much, I love you.",sharing the rest of time with them. That's is a simple action which I could take an action soon, determining to do so. However, I rarely show obligations to those who always care about me.

Netiquette

The word," Netiquette" was coined at the early stage of the prevalence of computers, which is the combination of "the Internet"(or "network") and "etiquette".  It means manners on the Internet.

Now, what should I do in practice?
I categorized the rules into two course of actions: for  oneself and for someone.
First, I must not write the information everyone can minutely identify me, for someone may monitor my blog, twitter, facebook and so on, even if they are not popular. I cannot know what sort of people watched them. Also,it is dangerous to click a button without consideration. I have to secure prior to utilize functions.
Second, I am not allowed to upload other people's image or something without permission. In addition, I must not insult someone under the anonymous condition, because most of cases are one-way, so that is just violence.
In short, I should behave following the customs and my ethic.

GOGATSUBYO ~the devil of May~

Gogatsubyo is defined as  the case where they don't feel like doing anything since after GW, caused by the stress of a new environment.  It is possible that it results in a serious depression. As far as I know, this situation is familiar to Japanese people, who are inclined to restrict their natural characters in an unknown surrounding.

So, we have to think about the prevention for it.
First, we needn't disguise what we really are with new members. That can only frustrates us, bearing no fruits.
Second, we should do some activities outside rather than lying on the sofa, whether with our friends or not. Even walking can reduce our pressure.
Finally, it does us good that we chat with old friends. The treatment will encourage us to go foward with peers from now on.

To conclude, if we keep these points in mind, they can prevente us from Gogatsubyo with ease.

How the World Is Responding to a Possible Strike on Syria

An Israeli said,"We live in a crazy region."

Most of  us can give consent to this words. Nowaday, we hardly comprehend the specific situation in Syria, and in this way, the fear of  the region must have been produced. Why is there the stereotype of  Muslims being terrorists?  Why is the area referred to as disorder in contrast with the past? Because of the other countries' intervention, especially during around the WWⅡ, some serious conflicts have broken out constantly in the Middle East on the Medterranean, where there is so long history that can date back to B.C. 3000. According to an article, some Western countries attempt to take a military action against using chemical weapons in Syria.they look as if they were governors of the district. However, who sowed the seed of strife? So, it seems to me that is a pretty strange problem. In addition, the neighborhood nations are more reluctant to impose military sanction on Syria than the others, for they would directly suffer from attack in case Syria begin war against the countries which threaten Syria by the arms. And also i doubt that they are willing to intervene to keep harmless people from the government. It's a partial reason. So, taking a critical look, we can find a strong connection between big companies and manifacturing weapons.

Money is the appropriate unit of exchange for labour, goods and services: can people make good use of money?

  My answer is "Absolutely, NO."

There are main three reasons. Initially, money is the mere tool to exchange. I'm certain that the priority of spending money to storing. But, why can Bill Gates save more than 60 billion dollars? Of  course, many rich people give away their money to some organizations. Nevertheless, they may be too rich to lay out earned extra money. If so, such a situation may well become an obstacle to the circulation of labour, goods and services , ironically. Second, being similar to 1st, the reason is the rapid expanding of the gap between rich and poor. Reading the headline, "The Richest 300 People On Earth Have As Much Wealth As The Poorest 3 Billion.", I was shocked at the fact that there is an extreme disparity. From then, I doubt that people could be equal by today's economy system. We should consider what to do to minimize the difference in the property. Finally, because of lack of attention to neighbors, we often forget people who work hard behind materials or services. Though it is the matter of ethics, in other words, sensibility, the ideology  is worth reflecting.  Accordingly, while we can't recognize what is unconscious of, money can make good use of us.

What's the quality of ICU?

To begin with, "hybrid" is the keyword of my life,so I was surprised at the word in the title of lecture. The reason I thought it crucial is I think it means keeping a balance, for example going to a church, a temple, a shrine and a mosque to get less biased thorough mental and physical exploration.
As  Dr. Paul Wadden said, something hybrid is vital for us like a bridge connecting rivers, because of the interactive openness which is the natural feature of  hybrid. Speaking of ICU, we can enjoy both of benefits from each college in the U.S. and the Japan.,such as elaborate curriculum and club activities. On the other hand, ICU is so experimental that they often take a risk for education. Therefore,to me,there are good points and bad points, but The education in ICU do us good than harm.
In addition, it is beneficial for ICU to have observed the policy since it was established. The belief gradually become a solid core. I'm convinced that a strong support drives us to take a positive action, though I don't know whether it takes in the right direction or not. That's why we need to criticize the taught materials and interpret them at our disposal. We should always change not to alter what you would like to preserve.

A Proverb

A friend in need is a friend indeed.

The reason I love this proverb is that it has a nice rhyme, while it indicate an important essence of life.
The cases of mental or phisical emergency are rare and accidental. And it is difficult to find friends'worries, if they hesitate to talk about them. They do so not because they think you are not their friend, but because they are afraid of changing their image.
However, we don't forget for true friends to be waiting for us until starting to speak. Furthermore, they can advise and accept you whatever situation you have been in. They can also say to you,"You are not alone." The words make you more positive.
You may feel my thought fantasic, but it is my real feeling from my experience. My friends encourage me to go foward, so I'm  truly happy to have such friends.

What is the definition of a perfect day?

What is the definition of a perfect day?  Here's my stab at it:

In spring, moderate humidity and temperature are must. It is the best time to relax, so I feel like taking a nap at the mercy of a gentle breeze. When a lot of kinds of flowers, such as cherry blossoms, rape blossoms and willows, are blooming, I can take a walk in a good temper without a thick jacket and a scarf. Even if some unexpected things happen, I seldom get upset. In short, the atmosphere of such days can make me say to myself, “Take it easy.”(with TAKE IT EASY by EAGLES listened to in my mind).

In winter, It is essential to be clear and piercing air, especially at dawn when the color of the sky changes gradually from deep blue to pale blue and yellow, for it is one of the most beautiful scenes perceived by some senses: sight, sound and touch. The beginning of such day makes a good start. And also, I guess that “a good beginning makes a good ending”.

If I can accomplish my schedule ,particularly hang out with friends, a day gives me happiness regardless of seasons. Whenever I watch as elaborate a movie as I am absorbed in, time is gone like an arrow. Moreover, going to my favorite café after that, I am sure that this day is the precious day.
